Hello i'm looking for any advice for this issue i will describe below.
Network setup - 3 Pc's 1 xbox 360
20MB DL net speed roughly 6 upload
i Have a wireless N router and all wireless N adapters
A couple days ago i installed a new piece of hardware a wireless adapter, it seemed like it was interfering with my network because every time i would turn on the PC with the new hardware the internet would lose connection or be extremely slow for the other devices on the network. So i figured something faulty with the card i disabled the card relocated the computer and checked the ethernet, the result was clear it was the card. After about a day i decided to give it another shot before returning the card, it was working fine this time and has been working fine since. the problem jumped to another device :/ so now when ever i have the 3 pcs running fine and turn on the xbox my network starts getting hammered all the pcs start to lag but the xbox is fine... i know it cant be the speed of the network because i've had game LANS with up to 6 pc at one time with no issues, the router it self is about 1 1/2 too 2 years old could it be bad already? it seems like if i turn on a specific device the network will get all laggy and almost time out for everyone. i can make this happen on command i just dont know what could be causing.
Any suggestions would be appreciated i'm am at the point to where i do not know what to do and i do not want to go out spending money if it wont help. Thanks for reading!

Can you replicate this with OTHER hardware? Try connecting all the devices directly for a short time, and see what happens. There may be issues with conflicting wireless standards. Sadly, it wasn't until very recently that Wireless 'n' was actually standardized - and many devices are not 100% compliant. Also, try setting your router to 'b' mode only and see what happens. I know this is not ideal, but may certainly tell you a lot about what is going on.
Also, what is the make/model of the router? I have found (in my home) that most Linksys products have a life span of 1 to 2 years. Of course, this is with a lot more on my network though. After some time fighting various dead routers, and the strange problems they bring with them, I moved on to a real router - the Netgear SRXN3205. Is it expensive? Yep. Does it have all the checklist features of the latest Linksys gadget? Nope. But it is rock solid.

Hey thanks for responding!
I have the Netgear N300, i was planning on upgrading to the Netgear range max dual band but only if i felt i could get a decent performance improvement. Interestingly enough i managed to fix my issue by just moving the devices further apart, Would it make sense that the two devices right next to each other cause such a disturbance in the network? one a pc and an xbox.

Not normally, no. But then again, wifi is a very strange beast sometimes.

By the way, I think waldojim has a LOT more traffic on his network than most - I've never managed to kill a router. I know my grandparents' Linksys WRT54G is at least 6 years old, with no problems. I've had my Netgear WNDR3700 for a few years, with no issues. Before that, it was a Dlink gaming router. (the power supply did die though)
