I have a Motorola Quantoco cell phone. I would like to transfer the pictures from it to my computer.

Is it necessary for me to urchase Motorola Phone tools, or is there another program ut there I could use to do this?

Connect your phone via USB, and if you're lucky, it'll appear under 'Computer', and you can copy the pictures off it. (They might be in a folder called DCIM.)

Is there any kind of USB connectivity mode on it? I doubt this will be any different under win7 btw.

It appears that you should be able to move the photos from the phone's built-in memory to a microSD card and then the computer should be able to see them by way of a USB connection:

Noting doin Smax.

Seems from the little I know, Motorola has a "brand specific way" of wanting to you to buy there program.

A friend of mine found a phone in the dump, he never had it hooked up to make phone calls, but used it as a camera and video recorder.

We found the usb cord it needed, hooked it up on a computer at an "internet cafe" and their computer rcognized it. We were able to download everything on it, burn it to a flash drive and VOILA, I think it was a Samsung.

Just seems wrong to buy a $270 phone and then I had to buy the usb cord and they dont even give you the software needed to use it in its entirety! :(

I am surprised they gave me the charger!! Only an AC charger, the one you need for dc charging was extra!

This is a bad a$$ phone, supoosedly it can be submerged for 30 minutes and still work. Although I have no desire to try it I wonder if it would work while diving! LOL

I have no complaints whatsoever about the phone, I am disappointed with Motorolla, even though their web site confuses the hell out of me. Seems like every phone they make requires a different version of Motorloa Phone Tools.

I have used this phone in elevators, close to high power electric lines, in basements surrounded by concrete etc.

It has never let me down. According to there ads, it is built to military specs.

Don't understand why it is such a big deal to transfer the "data" off of it.

I dont use this phone to connect to the internet or anything. I just wanted a tugh phone to handle some of the situations I find myself in in Alaska, and they want to soak me for another $50 for their phone tools which will offer me way more than I need, all I need is a way to get the pictures off.

Sorta kinda like buying a chicken farm and having to pay for your own eggs!

Thank, let me know what you think.

It is largely the nature of so-called "dumb" phones, which is the category that Motorola falls into. Such phones are not really designed for "data type" purposes...they are "phone" phones...mainly designed to function as a phone. Thus, getting stuff of the phone is not one of the high priorities of the design. Add to that it is some "proprietary" system, unlike some phone that runs Android. Historically, getting stuff (photos, phone/addressbooks, etc) off such phones is a major pain in the rear no matter the brand of the photo. While it may such that you have to pay for a program to get photos off it, that is likely going to be the case for all such phones no matter the brand.

I was afraid you were going to say that, I really dont care, nothing on their too important really, I usually have my lil cheap Kodak digital camrea with me most of the time anyway, and would never rely on my phone to take a quality picture anyway, except when maybe a moose is about to stomp my butt. LOL

Just disappointed it isnt easier than that.

On the other hand, kudos to Motorola and this phone, this is a tough son of a gun. It really is, I have no problem with the phone at all.

I dont think I would take my $1000 cell phone in the rain, but, this one I wouldnt hesitate.

I should ask Motorola if I try the test and submerge it for 30 minutes as they claim, if they will replace it!!! LOL

Then again it took me 2 hrs to figure out which version of Motorola Phone Tools was right for my phone, it may take me more a whole lot longer than that to find the right person to take my bet and get my phone replaced if their claim doesnt hold up!! LOL

Well sound s like this question may be answered.

I am not going to buy a computer to carry in my pocket, and sure enough not going to be a phone that is also a "computer". I have one of those at home and around every corner now adays.
.

As you say, I bought a phone, for a "PHONE", and I have a good one, it has the ability to connect but aint gonna happen.

I sure appreciate everyone taking the time to give me some insight into this.

Your extended knowledge to me goes unpayable and priceless. Thank you very much.
