I didn't think it was possible to get any less enthusiastic for this version of Windows, but this article drained my enthusiasm pool even further.

So here's where the rubber of version upgrades meets the road of anti-competitive behavior: Would ANYBODY buy this OS if it weren't about to be preloaded on every new PC being sold?

WOW... I thought I couldn't get any lower in my feelings for Windows8 UI. Don't get me wrong. I like the under-the-hood stuff. But this UI is just awful. Thanks Microsoft for lowering my expectations even more!

Looks like I'll be skipping Windows 8 just like I did Vista!

I can't wait to get Win8, and probably a Surface too. It's about time that we were offered an alternative to the childish icons-only outdated iOS and the goofy mess that us Android. Convergence between mobile devices and the desktop will happen, no matter how much you resist. Sheesh, it reminds me of when my dad refused to use an ATM! Move on people...

Windows 8 is a big disappointment for me. I hope 9 will be an upgrade to 7 and not 8
P.S.Keep your dirty fingers of my screen.

Surely the Metro background image will be hackable in the registry.

Wow, this is just butt ugly Metro Frankenstein scree. I am Windows users for all my life but I cannot get over the Metro screen - jumping back and forward. It will work on tablets for sure but MS, please, get me the option to disable absurd Metro with it's invisible charms...
I will definitely skip Win 8 and stay happily on Win 7.

Microsoft should have at least made it possible to remove the Metro head from the Windows 8 beast. Windows 8 would probably have been pretty nice if Microsoft hadn't turned it into "the two headed monster" about to attack the world, like a bad 1950s scifi movie.

I'm moving as much of my work to Linux as I can. I've never been wild about Icons.
