No. It's one step away from the 3D of the 1950s. It's stereoscopy, where separate images are recorded and presented for the left and right eyes.
Holography is entirely different. And to be honest, I don't understand it in the slightest.

That's what I was thinking. For some reason, when I think of futuristic TVs, I feel like it would be a holographic television.

The way technology is progressing holographic TV may not be that far away. But the holographic image projecting TV if and when it becomes reality will host its own set of problems of challenges. Even though 3D TV is gaining popularity, it is still to become part of the mainstream, at least in a country like India. My TV provides excellent 3D images with light weight glasses, but for the life of me I cannot convince my mother to wear the light weight passive 3D glasses. Let alone futuristic holographic TV that will scare older people into believing they are seeing ghosts!

Not everyone likes 3D, and I'm not entirely sure that 3D will become the norm any time soon.
Historically speaking, 3D has always been a fad in the movies, and never a stable. In 1953, people thought it was going to change the industry. By 1954, no one wanted it anymore. It failed to take off in the early 80s. Today's 3D trend (in theaters) has lasted longer than the others, but a lot of 3D movies sell more tickets in 2D. See 3D: Is It the Next Sound, the Next Color, or Just the Next 3D.
