Help....all of a sudden, my laptop does not seem to recognize any networks. Normally I have a wireless network I connect to, but my computer says that there is no network available. Another computer is able to recognize the network. Is this a problem with my network card? Coincidentally, this problem seemed to have occurred when my wife turned it on at a Starbucks and was going to try to use it there. She says that she didn't change any settings but it has not worked since. Thanks for any help.

Hi once again waldodok. I am not very strong with networks; however, I will try to help. Have you checked the manufacturer's website for updates to the network card drivers? Also, this may be a long shot but have you tried a System Restore back to a time when you know it worked?

Or looking at the webiste of the manufacturer of your wireless card to see what is the latest versio of the driver and compare it to what you see as the driver version of wireless card that can be found in the device manager.

On my HP Laptop there is a button that turns off the wireless connection, and I believe it stays off when you use it. I will take a flyer in a few hours when I get home and try it. You may have something like that, it has the wireless antenna logo on it.

Ok - I fired up my HP Laptop and checked a few e-mails, closed my browser and hit the wireless button at the top of my keyboard, plainly labeled "Wireless". My little wireless icon in the sytem tray showed a red x and the light on the wireless button went out.Ok, that worked, then I pressed the wireless button to turn it back on. No dice. I rebooted, not dice. I held the wireless button while booting, no dice. Oh Sxxt! I right clicked the wireless icon with the red x, then clicked on repair. Windows disabled the wireless and then enabled the connection and it connected fine. I then logged back on and entered this response. Whew!Check and see if you have a button like that. If you still have the icon in the system tray, right click on it and then click on repair. It apparently will do the rest.
