I purchased Fix It Utilities Professional on August 13, 2012. I gave up on it today after my computer nearly crashed. I had major RAM issues with my laptop, and at least one other program on it will have to be reinstalled. Tech support at Avanquest, the maker of the program, was useless. I was given advice that did not work. In fact, the problem got worse.
Then I started insisting on a refund. Avanquest doesn't like to give refunds. Their person from tech support ignored my refund requests. Then someone in their chat room parroted the company line about using their online contact form for refunds, which is absolutely useless. After I filled it out I got a message that said I'd have to mail the defective software back to them. I'm expected to cover shipping costs, and Avanquest does NOT refund taxes paid on their products!
Walmart, where I bought the program, refuses to give refunds for opened computer software, claiming Federal regs forbid them to do so. I don't buy it, and even if it's true, it seems to me there's a law against selling defective products and then refusing refunds.
I'm stuck with a useless program that costs too much. Does anyone have any idea as to what to do? I can't afford to lose the money I spent on this program, and I'm angry with both Avanquest and Walmart for ripping me off.
What gets me too is that PC World gave a glowing endorsement for Fix It Utilities, according to the box it came in. What's up with that?

Hey dianajune !
Welcome to PCWorld Community.
Well, the only path I know of would be to make a complaint to your local BBB bureau. http://www.bbb.org/
You might , by contacting the right person, get them to reimburse your money but, I doubt you will ever
see any of it. I might be wrong but, in past experiences , trying to get a hold of that right person was a
long process. You might try to contact a lawyer to see what your legal options are but, that could be
an expensive venture. Maybe you have a local organization that could direct you to free legal advice.
Now, I have to ask, why did you buy this product in the first place?
Did you search online for reviews of this software?
Did you ask other forums what they thought of this software?
I know for a fact that IF I was asked to give advice on such software, I would of told you that these products
are Crap. There are Lots of Good Free software that will clean and upkeep your PC "safely".
As for those glowing reviews well, I would again not put all of my chips in the same basket. Reviews and reviewers
abound on the net. Not all of them are meant to give all the right details and some are downright disloyal.
Sorry for your loss but, a trip to this or other reputable forum would have saved you lots of grief.
OH and if it's still possible, pls uninstall this crapware and ask here for better tools that will actually work.
I hope you don't find this reply too rude but, it really tics me off when people get ripped off after having paid Good
money for such crap.

Do not ever go for the Software programs installation on your computer if you are not aware about them. This may cause your System to beyond maintenance. Always install trusted brands. If you want to install any antivirus program, You can choose Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast! Pro Antivirus and keep them updated. If you do not have internet connection you can opt for the full version of the same.
