Can you load AVG 2012 & Bit Defender 2012 on Windows 7 and run them one at a time. In other words temporally deactivate one while running the other? Thanks for any help. Gary Bruce

Hi Gary, and welcome

Your best bet is to use one or the other, in the sense that 2 full time scanners of the software you mentioned, cannot be totally disabled from background running processes which can cause conflicts from system slow downs, to even BSOD. I know Bitdefender has a self protect mode which keeps it from being totally shut down, i.e. to protect it from malware shutting it down.

Your best bet is to choose one or the other, and then for a second opinion use an online scanner that will not be "installed" as it were, like ESET online Scanner, which will scan your whole HD, or Bitdefender's Quick Scan which will scan memory and start up files. There are many such out there.

You can also use one of the free malware scanners that are also the on demand type of scanner, like Malwarebytes, or Superantispyware.

You can run both security programs simultaneously but you should not as they would degrade the performance of your computer and affect the overall throughput. Try a better antivirus but only one at a time and keep updating it.

Yes, you can install both antivirus but if you install both antivirus then your PC run very slow. So, I think you should install only 1 antivirus between these two.
