Hdtv USA vs. World Wide

I followed USA's HDTV progression. The USA FCC mandated that All HDTV transmissions occupy the same transmission bandwidth response as their former analog TV channels occupied. That's good for USA.

What about the rest of the world? The whole worlds countries are not bound by the USA FCC.

So....How are the Non-USA countries handling the conversion to HDTV?

Reason for the question: I live in Philippings where 95% of TV is analog NTSC. I've viewed NTSC TV on a Philippine HDTV, & it Always looks like [censored]!!!

So I'm wondering, How are NON-USA countries adapting to HD TV?

Is the USA HDTV standard, the World standard???
