Why can't I buy a 4x HD, $200 Naked RAID 5 NAS?
2TB addressing is already Legacy.
If the NAS manufactures want to "Get-with-the-times", They'll release New versions of their hardware, that can crack the 2.2TB address ceiling limit!

Probably because they cannot make for that amount of money and make money...and not have it constantly having problems. 4 drive RAID NAS devices are basically little computer servers.

Not sure what you mean. I have a 4 drive NAS and have not run into any 2 TB limits that I can think of.

The addressing limit is 2.2TB with the Old addressing system. That's why 3TB HD's appear on older computers as 2TB + anything over the 2.2TB limit appears as a diferent HD.
I think that your NAS is not using 3TB HD's OR your mobo is new enough to be able to access a single 3TB HD.

I am currently using 2 TB drives, but according to the compatibility list for my device, I can use 3 TB drives. At the moment, 6 TB (2 TB is for "redundancy") is way more than enough for my use.
