The forum really does not get it right now - I signed in and out a few times, cleared my cookies, and it's STILL insisting that I'm crazy4laptops in the on your side subforum. (not in actual threads though)

Edit: It finally stopped doing that. I notice he had recently posted there - maybe the forum thought he was still online and mixed up the sessions?

No, thank you for all your patience! I know this has been a mess, and I really, really appreciate how patient you all have been with this.

Thank you,

For me, the link from the main forum page worked fine taking me to where I could login.

Once I entered in the login information, THEN I got a 404 error. It seems that it "404'd" when trying to take me back to the forums page (i.e. it seems there is a "redirect" link meant to take you back to the forums after logging in that is broken), but did in fact actually log me in.

OK, I just got the same thing as you did smax and but, when I clicked on a topic I was logged in.
So, your assumption might just be the right one. I just hope I'm not going to get kicked out when
trying to post my next reply, that would be a waste of time.

On a positive note Bill, we do appreciate all the hard work.

Same here. By the way, the lower sign-in link (where your username is displayed) still doesn't work.

In My Book, Patience Has Nothing To Do With It.

What Stands Out From The Rest Of The Competition, The Forums, Were Practically Left Unchanged.

Lets Hope They Stay That Way, For A Long Time.

I'm no longer getting any errors loging in.

Completely signed out.
Reentered pcworld website, scrolled to bottm clicked forums.
Doesn't matter if in choose sign in or log in up top on the forums page, takes you to the same place.
The sign in on left was a problm but the sign in up top and abit to the right opened a popup.
Signed in there then scrolled to bottm and clicked forums and I was signed in.

The path described above gets you in without any errors.
Well, me anyway.

The front page says I am coastie65 right now. I tried banning everyone, but it would not work! Bummer.

Actually, I think he can only edit and delete posts - the admins are the only ones that can ban people. It would've been funny to edit someone else's post though.

@LiveBrianD

How Does Your User Dare To Invade My Forums Screen ?

Seriously, I Know Now That You Have 7 (Un)Read Messages, But Only That Number, Not The Messages Content Itself.

Am I Correct ?

Cheers.

And I thought that the fact that I don't clean out my notifications very often would never be seen by anyone else... (it's odd how the forum handles that though, since I don't have any unread messages - it seems the messages only get marked that way if I actually open the full notifications page and click on them.)

Precisely why I turned those notification off. I got tired of having to take the additional steps to delete them.

You know guys, I realize that advetising pays for the site. But when it becomes a detriment, then you need to shoot the advertiser... or abandon them.

I don't know what CDN.GIGYA.COM is delivering to PCWorld - but their servers have been dragging butt for the last hour or so. Once again, I had to make a point of downloading FF and Adblock plus just to make the site usable.

Sorry, I thought I had replied to this. I've removed calls to CDN.GIGYA.COM from the forums, so you should not have trouble with that one anymore.

Thanks,

And I think we may finally have the flaky login issue fixed, so you will hopefully always appear to be you instead of it looking like you are logged in as someone else.

Please let me know if you still see this happening.

Thanks,
Bill

Ya, I get 404 the same way, but at least I can login to forum that way.

I went off the grid shortly after the new platform was rolled out. After two weeks, I was able to log in and get all the new comments knocked down from close to 900 to under 200 I wanted to read. I was plagued like stevey with getting logged in as a different user. Had to log off and refresh to get in on my user name. Strange happenings for sure.
