As an open-source advocate, this is exactly why I don't like Android. Google licensed as much of it as they could under the Apache license which means that they can delay the public release of code or even close it completely at any time. Only Google's strategic partners get the latest code and have to license certain aspects of it (such as Marketplace/Play, Maps, search, etc.) The end game is what we are seeing here: Acer is forced to *only* use Android or else Google will pull the plug. I'm not a lawyer, but this shouldn't be legal as it seems blatantly anti-competitive, but obviously Google must think it is kosher since that's what they did.

I see where Google is getting their panties in a knot saying that Alibaba is stealing their Android system and rewriting the OS to sell, mostly in China, for smartphones. Gee, China wouldn't steal anything would they?

It is time for U.S. companies to leverage ECommerce to expand business in China.
