Hi, this problem has occurred since a while but I didn't try to fix it as isn't major nuisance :D
So here's the problem, when I open "Windows Update" in the control panel I don't get the normal window, I get an almost blank screen with three lines of commands-likes and a blank button, which does nothing when clicked on.
I toke some time to search the internet and found a couple of fixes, including one where I had to download and run the Microsoft's Fix It, which didn't help.
I've included a screenshot as an attachment.
Any help you can provide is much appreciated.

Hey Hoop,
I can't see a screenshot on my end, probably because the site is still being glitchy.

I did some googling myself and it seems like the common thread is installing a service pack in a language different from the OS. For instance, in one thread an Italian made the mistake of selecting English for the SP.
Could that possibly be your problem?

I've checked in the computer's properties, I don't have any service packs installed :(
Should I try and install it? Will it fix the problem?

SP1 for Windows 7 was released a while ago, I'm surprised it didn't come up in your automatic updates. I don't see how it could hurt to install it although I don't know if it will fix your problem. Here's the link:

Hey Hoop!

Do you see a Red X on the White Flag on the Task Bar next to the clock?

Open Action Center by Right clicking on the White flag and choose
Open Action Center.

Do you see anything wrong like this screen shot ? :

Posted Image

Do you see a button on the right side that says Change Settings? If so, click on it and choose the recommended
option. (should be the first one)

Does it change anything ?

Do you have the install disk for your Windows 7 ?

You might want to do a repair of the OS.

And yes, installing SP1 would be the right thing to do.

Hi FLASHORN, my apologies to the late response to you too.
No, I can see nothing wrong over there.

Apparently nothing to change in the action center setting, as everything is checked (screenshot included).

Yes, I think I have it somewhere here (didn't dig it out yet).
Even the windows update setting looks not so ok (screenshots saves the world!)
I'll try to install the service pack here first, and will report back when I get the things done.

Hi,
I've finished doing SP1 installation and that didn't fix it.
I just found out I'm able to install the normal updates through the corrupted "Windows update", and did it successfully two days ago but lost it when I did a system restore to fix another issue(fixed now), but everything still look the same way in that place.
I think I have to dig the Windows 7 installation disc, and get back to you guys expecting the instructions, as I have no clue

So, was it me being impolite or nobody wants to help a poor fellow PCW member?
Oh, ok, I just found out I don't have the installation disk, and the issue is remained unsolved. I can update though, as shown in the included screenshot.

I haven't the faintest idea what would cause that, but I have links to Windows ISOs in my sig if you need them.

Thanks for pointing that out but, do I really have to download the whole thing to solve this? Am I really out of options?
If so, I think I'll just leave this glitch as it is. :(

Hey Hoop!

Actually, if you have a friend with a Windows 7 disc then ask if you can borrow it and try the Repair that way.
It would be better to have the Retail version of Windows 7 to do this.

Well, I don't. Guess I'll try Brian's link, the "Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 ISO" is about 3.1 GBs, but have to get myself a cd first as I don't have one around.
