Intel Pentium Dual Core 820 Processor
Intel D101ggc MotherBoard

SEAGATE 80GB IDE HARD DISK
SEAGATE 500GB Barracuda 7200.12 SATA HARD DISK
IBALL 400W SMPS..

Q1.I connect 500gb hard disk alone, cannot show on bios also unable to detect my hard disk and unable install windows 7 due to not detected..After one week purchase i return to warranty, i get new one 500gb hard disk.

Hi. I had an eMachines with the Intel D102GGC2 motherboard. You will need to go and find the SATA drivers for that MOBO as they did not come installed ( I believe that Motherboard is in a Prebuilt computer ). The only drivers that were installed at the factory was the IDE drivers as it was an IDE Hard Drive that came installed. You may also want to try and install Windows 7 From the IDE Harddrive as it has a pretty good library of drivers.

He said it wasn't detected in the BIOS though, and drivers won't change that.OP: Are other SATA hard drives detected? Have you tried another port? Does that particular drive work on different machines?

Enter the BIOS and ensure that the SATA ports are enabled. Also check to ensure they are in AHCI OR IDE (Compatibility) mode, not RAID.

I was just saying that the drivers were not included with that MOBO. If you are going to use SATA, you best have the drivers installed. The Intel D102GGC2 MOBO in my eMachines had the SATA ports, but the drivers were never installed for SATA. That is an old MOBO, circa '04 or earlier. Those things were generally PATA rather than SATA although had the SATA ports. wj had the best thing to try at the moment and there is really not much to add to it at the moment.

Well, you might do not know that it is all the way motherboard dependent how much RAM and HD it is able to support. The configuration and other Integrated Circuits won't be much capacitive to be able to support 500 GB HD.
