I'm in need of a new antivirus. I just dropped AVG as my paid solution and am looking to go with something else. Any suggestions? Do you think I should go with a free one or a paid one? If so, which?

Microsoft Security Essentials is a great free AV program. Avast Free is my second favorite. For on demand scans (particularly on machines I suspect are infected), Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is good. You should only have one AV program installed though. (Malwarebytes is the exception)

That seems to be for an older version of Windows. I'm on 7.

I think I have it installed and ready to rock now. Should I run Windows Defender in conjunction with it?

If MSE is running, then Defender is disabled. See this ... http://answers.micro...cb-e922b2c75225 .

I didn't know which OS you were using, since it wasn't in the OP, so made my best guess.

I've never even heard of that. Sounds fishy...

VRS is a pulmonary virus and certainly not an antivirus application.

More than fishy.

you should definitely go with a free one, there's really no need to pay for one!
I've been using Unthreat Antivirus and I'm very happy with it. it doesn't slow my computer down or anything.

Of course, I want to go with free antivirus. There are a lot of free antivirus are available that you can choose and they provides good security and protection to your computer.

I think paid antivirus is better then free antivirus. you get full support from your antivirus support team at time.
