So Christmas is coming up and my girlfriend has been talking about how she wants a Kindle or Nook or just something that works better than her "Literati" which is what she has now. So I have decided to surprise her for Christmas. I need some help knowing what to get though, as I am not proficient when it comes to e-readers.

Here are the three I've narrowed it down to:

http://www.ebay.com/...#ht_4202wt_1141

http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1423.l2649

http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1423.l2649

All she is going to do with it is read, not surf the web or watch movies and stuff. She told me not to get anything too expensive so I didn't go as far as the Kindle Fire. Not yet at least. Maybe later on :)

Thoughts?

If all she is going to do is read, then likely any of the three should work fine.

The main thing that might decide it is available content (i.e. does Barnes & Noble or Amazon have more content that she would be interested in...but this might be really tough to determine). To some degree, this is an argument for a tablet device...Android based tablets and iPads tend to have both Amazon Kindle and Nook apps that allow you to read ebooks from BOTH ebook stores (as well as books from Google for Android tablets and books from Apple for iPads). Of course, tablets tend to cost at least twice as much as what you are looking at.

I believe the Nook might have slightly better battery life, although it is tough to know whether a "refurbished" model will be similar to a new model in terms of battery life (i.e. depends on what the "refurbished").

I must say you have a good girlfriend who doesn't want you to run into costs. This means she deserves a better e-reader and you may consider the following: Amazon Kindle Paperwhite and Kobo Glo. Don't save too much on her.

I guess I kinda worded that incorrectly. I meant that I've heard her talking with her friends about how her "Literati" is a piece of junk and doesn't work half the time. So I just thought it would be a good Christmas present to upgrade her e-reader. She didn't actually ask me for one. Nonetheless, thank you for your help.

Thank you for both of your inputs kind sirs. It is greatly appreciated.
