I was bored today, looking for a project, so I decided to give Start8 a try (it got a good review in the latest MaximumPC). I figured with a free 30-day trial I was pretty safe.
They did a nice job with it. There's really no reason to complain about the Modern UI since this gives a Start button AND the benefits of Win8. Interestingly, it also forces the boot to desktop rather then the MUI. I might just end up springing for the five bucks, I'll see how it grows on me.
