I do not see any powerful desktop units.
Oh sorry, this is a Windows 8 hardware article.
Win8, powerful, and desktop do not go together.

Windows 8 can be installed on any machine. derrrrr. Want a powerful desktop? Build one. Or buy a desktop from anywhere (which I'm assuming you would have to do since you probably don't know how to build a computer). Your comment is so dumb it is making me feel dumb.

What I want to know is if any of the i7 tablet/hybrid devices will have good enough graphics to run games like call of duty at low settings. That is what I want. One of them has a lightning connector that might help....

The main reason anyone builds in smart cards is for government, and especially DoD use with the Common Access Card ID used to log into computers, meaning Dell is pretty obviously pushing for the tablets for that market, much like how they have a good percentage of laptop sales to that sector.

I work at Intel on our tablet processor product line. Great to see the HP Envy X2, Dell Lattitude 10 and Lenovo Ideatab Lynx on your list. You should also add Samsung ATIV Smart PC 500 and Acer Iconia w510 to your list. All offer everything one would expect from a tablet in way of form factor, weight and battery life, but have the added benefit of full PC compatibility since they run Windows 8 and not Windows RT. Looking forward to reviews on more of these. #IntelTablets

That commet really is dumb... Wow, he's got-to-be kidding! One could build a Windows machine that will eat any competitor for breakfast lunch and dinner while still keeping $1,000 or more in their pocket.. Silly fanboy~tricks are kids!

I have the Samsung ATIV smart PC Pro 700T.. It's an incredible tablet PC in 11.6" form but I'm not feeling so happy with the Samsung (lack of) quality.. in design or in customer support! And for $1,500 (after tax & service plan), i think i can demand more satisfaction~No? :-/

I live in Turkey, Gzyonline and I have the Smart PC Pro 700T also. I got it, including keyboard, and 128GB SSD for $1230 inc. delivery and standard 2 year warranty. I noticed much higher prices in other countries which surprised me as Turkey is usually more expensive than anywhere else. I agree it is a fantastic machine, super fast, great screen and does not get as warm as I thought it might given the powerful processor. For me the finish is not perfect but it is not shoddy. It feels strong and sturdy with no flex. I think they use plastic rather than brushed aluminium body to keep the weight down and it does have a brushed metallic "feel". I had one small problem with the keyboard as one of the USB connections was dead when I got it but they replaced the whole keyboard free of charge and paid all the shipping, no questions asked. As a real mobile alternative to a pc/laptop you can't beat this machine but I would definitely not buy the 64GB model that seems to be the only option available in some countries. After installing your software there can be as little as 30gb left for storage even after getting rid of the bloatware. Of course you can use the micro sd card to expand it but 64GB is just not good enough in my opinion and I can't understand why they even put such a small SSD in there as it does no justice to the overall product. I would definitely buy it again if given the choice against similar devices available at the moment.

I bought a Yoga 13, (LOVE IT, btw) and while I don't have CoD, I looked at all of the hybrids/convertibles in great detail, for hours, day after day, until I finally broke down and bought what I felt was the best (read: high quality internal components + size and ability).

While I have yet to install big, resource-sucking components- I know that the internal specs of my Yoga rival my last desktop.

good luck!

A shame there was no mention of Samsung ATIV PRO.
A convertible tablet with i5, 128GB SSD, 4GB ram, Wacom stylus/S-Pen. This all with an 11.6" screen, <2lbs and a full keyboard dock. With an internal 49Whr battery this computer gets up to 9hrs of use, easily +6 doing real work. It is perhaps the least compromised of all the computers mentioned.
