It seems like the buttons are the first thing to wear out on a mouse, which probably shouldn't surprise anyone since they're the only moving parts now that all mice or optical. (Remember mechanical mice, where you had to remove and clean the ball every so often?)
A few weeks ago, my computer seemed to stop working. Moving the mouse moved the pointer, but nothing responded to a click. I reboot three times, once into safe mode. I was considering reinstalling Windows when I booted a live Linux flash drive and still had the problem. Then I realized that it was only the mouse!
Is it a conspiracy? I doubt it. But making cheap mice is probably better for the bottom line than making expensive ones.
