Hi there. This is my problem: I've got 6 partitions on my disk, in succession:
199 MB Boot Windows(Primary), 500 MB Linux Boot? (Primary), 24.52 GB Unallocated (logical), 381.50 GB Main C: (Primary), 45.16 GB Linux Data (Logical), Empty Windows, 13.89 GB (logical).
I want to accomplish 2 things and I can't:
1) I need to use the unallocated 24.52 GB for a third OS. It will not let me create a partition; it tells me to change a primary into a logical.
2) I need to merge the empty windows of 13.89 GB into the main C: drive. How can I achieve that?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, gallicbear, and welcome to the forums.
If my memory serves, you can have up to four physical partitions on a hard drive. These can be either primary (bootable) or extended, although you're only allowed one extended partition per drive. However, you can put several logical partitions onto that one extended partition.
What program are you using to manage partitions?
Lincoln

Your memory serves you well.

To my knowledge, the only way to merge two partitions that are NOT "next" to each other is to do a destructive partitioning (i.e. wipe the drive and re-partition it after wiping it).

Thanks, smax013 and LincolnSpector. While I was waiting for suggestions, I actually wiped out all my partitions, except for windows and started from scratch. I'm all set. I'll visit the forum again. You guys were helpful.
