I have been trying to find something gratifying about the RT look for the past 2 month and.............no, nothing it just plain sucks, ugly tiles, uglier backgrounds, I pretty much deleted all the tiles it came with and started installing my own (few of which are MS).
Here is my problems list
1--No clock on either side (neither the Windows Store apps, or old fashion windows)
2--No start button (Click top left corner, click magnifying glass, click apps, either search or look for Icon!!!!!) I could not find an installed game this way, I had to go to win explorer -program files- island of the dead.
3- With 2 monitors it is very hard to find the sweet spot on the upper left hand corner
4- It is uuuugly o so ugly. No elegance like the aero interface.
5- No way to eliminate the need for a password on the opening screen.
6-Movies played with the XBox player? have no volume control and it is the predetermined player.
As time goes buy I am sure I will grow fond of somethings ..........ahahahaha dont think so, this is a disaster welcome to Vista 2, give it a couple of years and they will split this os, the uuuuuugly one for their beautiful pad (which I will buy next year dirt cheap) and then WIN9 for the desktop.

1) Bottom right or top right corner reveals clock and date
2) All you have to do to search for everything in your computer from the metro UI is just start typing and it automatically searches for apps, settings and files. It's very nice and very fast. I've used it a lot.
3) I don't have 2 monitors I have no idea
4) Aero interface is cheap and so 2000's-looking. Fake shiny marks and transparency is just a dated look. Windows 8 has a beautiful, simple new look. Much more elegant with bold, block colors and clean, simple lines than aero in my opinion.
5) I agree, this is annoying unless you use a local account which doesn't require a password.
6) I have no interest in xbox player, just one of the many media players out on the internet.
-Also, HUGE speed increase over Windows 7 in both boot up time and searches, etc. So smooth and less choppy than 7 and Vista. All of my games work on Windows 8 with 0 problems at all. I use Steam.

I have both those games installed and have no issues whatsoever. I think you;re doing it wrong. Windows 8 is a huge performance increase from win 7, and I now find myself navigating, searching and launching applications faster than I ever have on any other OS except mobile ones. I like it.....and you will too....its not going anywhere, id like to believe M$ learned from the Vista fiasco.

Indeed! You reflect my sentiments precisely. As I've seen how the new Start screen works with the Tiles, I couldn't help thinking about Windows 3.1 with the groups of application icons. Excepting that an application's Tile provides a smidgeon of status/summary info, I don't yet see how they do much good. If you use an application often enough that you want its Tile on your main Start screen, wouldn't that application already be open? If that's the case, then all Microsoft needed to do is create a notification/status "balloon" for applications appearing on the Taskbar. However, if you ask me, I think they're pushing the new Start screen because it's glitzy-looking and different. Other than that, I can live without the Tiles, etc.

the d----thing. It says Perfect Disk is not Compatible and has to be
"manually un-installed". I did this but it will let me go no further........
Perfect Disk makers yes it is compatible.
So I am in the damn middle.
Leave it to Windows to screw things up.
Any suggestions? jayraymay@att.net
