Back in March I started a thread about a SFF PC I built for a friend, and these are the specs:

ASRock H67M-ITX/HT mobo, HEC SFF case, i5-2400 proc, Kingston 128 SATA2 SSD and 4GB of 1333 Corsair RAM. No video card or optical drive.

He called a earlier to tell me the PC boots into the UEFI screen and he can't get past it. This is hard because I don't have it in front of me to troubleshoot (he's out sailing), and google searches aren't turning up anything. It seems to me the proc and RAM must be working, as is the onboard graphics, or he wouldn't get as far as the UEFI, but I don't know if the system is seeing the SSD.

Have any of you run into this problem before, or maybe heard about it? I'd like to be able to call him with a solution, if possible.

Thanks,
comp

Has he tried removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes? Also, seeing as it's on a moving boat, has he checked to make sure the SSD's cables are tight? Any specific error messages?

I suggested removing the battery, and he's going to do that tomorrow. I didn't think to have him check the SATA cable, I'll relay that to him. I don't remember if the cable I used had clips or not.

I just spoke with my friend, who removed the CMOS battery and reseated the SATA cable, and everything is working fine now. The obvious issue is I don't know which of the fixes solved the problem but I'm going to get him a SATA cable with clips to eliminate that problem for good. I should have put one in to begin with rather than use what came in the box.
