I want to know the tools required to develop apps for Surface tablets and Windows 8. Is it the new Visual Studio? Can the existing Windows 7 apps work in Windows 8 OS? How do I integrate apps into Surface tablet? Microsoft needs to show us developers how to do that.

Yes, you need Visual Studio 2012, but you also need to run it on Windows 8 if you want to make apps. You can test apps on the computer with Visual Studio on it, or you can test apps on a connected Surface. And Windows 8 keeps full compatibility with Windows 7 apps.

Visual Studio Express 2012 is all you need and it's free if you register.

I suspect Steve Ballmer is exaggerating or outright lying about the number of sales of Win 8.
90% of being smart is knowing what you're dumb at.

I realized I didn't clarify some things, so I'll do that now. First, you can test apps on any Windows 8 tablet, not just the Surface. And there are lots of tutorials on how to make Windows 8 apps. There's a lot of good information about this at http://msdn.microsof...S/windows/apps/

Of course he's lying you know for fact that Windows 8 is not doing the numbers that they expect. Any time I read something about Windows 8 failing to meet certain target, if I go back and find that report again it's gone.
I've also noticed some older YouTube videos with Steve Ballmer are disappearing from YouTube why is that? Microsoft will do almost anything to keep us in the dark. Remember you have to reimagine what they're doing.
PCWorld to keep track of all articles that show Microsoft negative light don't let anyone erase them keep them archived. Microsoft's still has a lot of clout and when they want to get things done they find away.
I am at almost expect this article that I just commented on to disappear shortly.
