Help
Hi, I've got a laptop running Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. The problem is that on internet explorer and firefox the search engines do not work. It doesn't matter if I try google, yahoo, or bing. I can pull up the page but as soon as I type in something and click enter, it just goes to a blank, white page. I've already run the common programs such as malwarebytes, avast, superantispyware, spybot, etc. I really do not know what to do next. Everything else seems to work fine.
Any help greatly appreciated.

1. Do your browsers come up to your desired homepage?
2. Can you go anywhere else on the web?
3. Is this your lappy, or an employers?
4. Are you the only user of this lappy?
p.s. As a wild guess, check the computers date/time for accuracy.

Everything else on the internet, even the search providers pages, until I actually tried to search for something. I actually figured out that Avast was blocking it. It didn't tell me but someone on another forum mentioned something like that so I disabled the shields and it started working again. Now running AVG and uninstalled Avast.

That is so weird. I have Avast running on one machine, and don't have any problems like that. And, of course, if everyone with Avast had that problem, no one would use the program.
I'm not questioning your story, and moving to another program is absolutely the right solution, but I'm wondering what conditions are causing Avast to mess up like that.
