I’m disabled and use the Disability functions of XP (Mouse and key lock, tray, quick start, desktop, etc). There is no way that I can use a touch screen. I have only a Desktop with XP and a rarely used laptop with Vista. No phone nor tablet. I need a new desktop. Should I upgrade to Windows 7 or Windows 8 ?

I dont know what win7 or 8 has for disability functions.
Other than that if you are an "average user" win7 or 8 will be ok for you.
They are not so good for a power user like me, and some of the windoze things I need have been removed from them because of today's "less is more" rule.
So I havta stick with XP.
At least with XP I can still do what I want not what M$ wants.

Well, if you actually go out and buy a new desktop, then likely the choice will be out of your hands. You will likely definitely at least get Windows 7, but more than likely you will end up with Windows 8 (especially if you buy it from the likes of Best Buy or some other "retail" store (many "built to order" computer websites and likely computer shops will allow you to built it with Windows 7).
As such, you could look into going to a store and "laying hands on" a Windows 8 computer and trying the "assistive" functions.
