One important thing you didn't mention was the location of the USB ports on a laptop. In 2011 I purchased a decent Sony Vaio and found to my dismap that the USB ports, especially on my mouse side, are always in the way. There are three ports on the right side and one of the left. I do not have a wireless printer or backup drive so cords are always in the way.
