Re: "To download the preview of Internet Explorer 9, head to Microsoft's website. "

I thought it was the preview version of IE10 that was available, not IE9.

Trying out IE10 now. It's not bad. However, wither this article has problems or my installation has problems. For example, in my installation, there is nothing called "Internet Properties". My installation has a menu choice titled "Internet Options". Under Internet Options and within the "Advanced" tab, there is no provision to enable the "Flip Ahead” function. In fact, there is no such option at all!

I wonder what is going on!!!

I should mention that I am test-driving this on a Win7 64-bit ,machine.

What I do like is how the fonts are rendered. I like the sharper edges to the tabs. In terms of speed, currently it appears to be fine. Installation was a smooth, but lengthy, affair. The new install transferred over the previous Add-ons/ Accelerators that my IE9 (which I always kept and used as a secondary browser - my primary browser is and will remain Chrome till the time I use Android tablets and phones) install had without a problem. I also like the fact that finally IE has an in-built spell check capability (which was, frankly speaking, long overdue). I also appreciate the fact that what I have installed now is a preview and there may be some bugs etc. which will eventually (I hope) get worked out (I have not found any yet - but its only been 20 minutes or so that I have downloaded and installed IE10.

Cheers!

IE9 and IE10 also come with built in tracking protection the ad companies cannot ignore, under settings>manage add-ons>tracking protection.
If you explore a little further after enabling it you can download Easy Site List and Easy Privacy List, the same lists used for adblock plus.

It might be that I am using Windows 8, but I see the Flip Ahead checkbox right under Enable Automatic Crash Recovery.

Thanks. I checked in my install at the location you mentioned, but that option is not there. Perhaps it is only available on Win 8-based installs.

On another note, I found that some embedded videos - like on the Guardian UK site - don't load up and play. I checked the same page on Chrome and the video works fine. Other than that, I think - and this is only my perception - that IE10 is a bit sluggish as compared to Chrome.

A common problem.

If you have installed this in Windows 7 and IE 10 will not connect to the internet while your other browsers will, dry disabling the Sendori Service in MSConfig.

Its not bad, but still kind of buggy which surprises me because it is basically the same that's running in Win 8 final release. I would say its faster then IE9 for sure but question the rest of the speed claims. Again it still lags behind others in HTML5 compliance. Final thoughts is that IE10 again trails behind the rest and in a few months into 2013 IE10 will once again be considered a out dated browser. Must be discouraging to Microsoft to release products that are basically out dated even before they mature. The other problem of course is that yet again IE10 will be another Microsoft bowser version not able to work with XP and Vista.

For the Flip feature, you say: "To enable it, go to Internet Properties > Advanced > Browsing and check “Enable Flip Ahead."
What does that mean? Do you mean Internet Options, not Properties? Even so, though is no option to "enable flip ahead." Where can you do that in Windows 7?
