@noyesk there's not much more left to this year.

I hope OEMs bring this to us soon. Hopefully this year (only 1 & 1/2 months left), with all these scary prophesies about 2012, one can’t take a chance to wait till 2013! :)
Eagerly waiting for your update.

This is going to be the 1st phone with parallel booting. 2 OSs for the price of None!!!

Good luck Ubuntu + Android.
2 favorite OSs on one great device. How exciting!

This sounds fantastic! Now if we can turn this vaporware into actual hardware with a release date (or timeframe) We'll be all set.

Just to clarify for you, Android is based on Linux. So it stands to reason that Ubuntu and Android would be well suited for each other.

Just as a question to the tech junkies out there. What does Ubuntu run at this point? I remember it when I was in college but that was 3 years ago. Can it now run programs or is it still booting to Windows to do any real work? I'm not trying to be cynical either, I'm just curious and I wasn't that impressed then.

Yes I hear Android & Linux are going merge or something. Anyways, Ubuntu for Android its quite remarkable because both OSs will be running together at the same time (Parallel booting, not to be confused with dual-booting).

I hope Canonical & Google implement this idea soon, as there is a risk of this idea being stolen and used by competitors.

P.S. It also runs Skype, Adobe Reader, some Windows programs on WINE & some great programs that run only on Linux. I suggest you try a Live CD or Live DVD.

If you install it, I recommend you try Ubuntu Software Center and Ubuntu Tweak for discovering very useful programs.

I am among the ones that thinks that:
1) not everything is even closer to be alike in a phone and a computer;
2) Not every idea Canonical has is excellent.

I use many *buntu products on my PCs and netbooks and like them, but don't see the point of having them in my phone, as I won't use an Android/Linux in my PCs. Thank you.
