Plus it could simply be a reflection that they find the data useful, and hence utilize it more for that reason.

nothing "useful" to us will be in our chat logs and emails.. they could easily make surveys but thats just too easy..

Does Google offer this information in an effort to downplay the fact that they themselves spy on EVERY user?

But that's OK, they just want to make more money out of all of us.

To disagree without being disagreeable is the art of debate. Simply because one has a strong opinion, it does not necessarily make an alternative opinion less valid.
