But, no thanks. I'll stick to Win8&Ubuntu

I'm still loving my Linux Mint 13 "Maya" install in 3 of my PC's (1 laptop, 2 desktop), so it's for sure I'm gonna give it a try in a month or so. However, I don't like Gnome AT ALL. Been a KDE fan since the 90's, and not gonna change now, so I hope there's a community release of "Nadia" KDE-based.

Naaahhhh; these couldn't be the reasons dumbuntu dropped to #4 on the latest, most widely-read distro ranking system (which doesn't mean a thing; to dumbuntu users, anyway).

@1: You're BRAGGING about using ubuntu (I do hope that you don't refer to one of your choices as ubuntu LINUX) and win8, and in the same breath? I guess the two do go together. And, best of luck to you.

@2: M. Lefebvre has said that Mint 14 KDE will be available around the end of the year.

I do mean Linux Ubuntu 12.04. yeas and Windows 8. Ubuntu mostly for web browsing and watching movies, windows to get some serous things done which Ubuntu can't (Excel, 1-C accounting system). And how is that BRAGGING? Just stating my preference over Mint

As the OSs improve, the biggest problem - by far! - is still the lack of a truly compatible MS Office clone. While they are all very good, they all have incompatibilities with formatting that keep away serious business users.

Mint and Ubuntu are darned good; and almost good enough for just about anyone to use. Get those Office suites fixed, and these guys are on their way.

I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the lack of password prompting for installation of software packages; that sounds like it could be a security hazard waiting to happen.

I'm planning on giving it a whirl anyway, though; I've long been a (K/L)Ubuntu user and have already tried a slew of other distros (Fedora, Debian, Slackware, Gentoo, Softlanding, you name it), so I'm definitely willing to try it out.

One of the Biggest changes in LM14 was the new File Manager known as Nemo. Below is an excerpt from the LM14 website...
