> The first thing you notice when you hold the Lumia 920 is its size and weight

The Lumia 920 weighs 185g. My current iPhone 4s with Puro cover weighs 172g; I have never thought of this as heavy. From what I have seen, the 920 is so solid that no cover is needed.

So -- yes, I will notice the size (and be able to read the text through my dimming eyes). But, no! I will not notice the weight.

I bought this phone and I LOVE it! It makes iOS feel old and dated. I hope MS keeps up the improvements to keep the OS on the same level as android and iOS. I do not use the two apps mentioned. I have found apps for everything I want to do.

I agree. People seems to but their iPhone's in those Otterboxes, which definitely turns them into a brick, which is odd given the iconic design. Here, let me go spend, fully burdened, $700 and hide this beautiful phone that, if dropped, is more likely than something like the 920 to sustain significant damage. Another example is the Nexus 4 with its glass back. Don't get me wrong, it certainly adds a lot to its beauty and design, but it's almost as if Google intentionally included it knowing that it would reduce its shelf life in terms of likelihood of being damaged.

I also bought the Lumia 920. It is by far the most excited I've been about a new phone. Sure, I loved my iPhone 3G when it was new. Later, my Samsung Captivate made me wonder why anyone would buy an iPhone 4.

But this phone tempts me to stop strangers. "Dude, check out my kick-ass phone!"

However, it won't appeal to all users, many of whom are firmly entrenched in the iOS or Android ecosystems. But those who are platform-agnostic, are more focused on productivity than playing, or who are interested in a something fresh and unique can find much to love about the Lumia 920.

Yeah, those Apple and Android suckers don't have software to create and edit Word, Excel, or PowerPoint! LOL, SUCKERS! Oh, they do? Then her statement about being focused on productivity would be COMPLETELY WRONG! A tech writer making a stupid statement with no basis in reality, who would have guessed it was possible? Will Amber redeem herself with a well thought out argument?

In addition to the standard set of Windows Phone 8 features (Groups and Rooms, Kids Corner, DataSense, SkyDrive integration, Xbox SmartGlass), Nokia includes its own suite of software goodies such as City Lens, Drive + Beta, Maps, and Music.

In your face Apple and Android! These productivity apps like kids corner...wait, what? She listed a bunch of non-productive, play apps to support her idiotic statement at the beginning of the article? What the, I mean, who would have...? Sigh. Typical trolling claptrap, sad really. Well, what are you going to do? Maybe turn her over to the Macalope for a scathing commentary on her article, lol!

I would have loved to get my hands on a 920, but Nokia saw fit to go Att exclusive... now I have a Samsung. Nokia, if you want to sell the products, this carrier exclusive crap needs to go to hell.

For those who havent got the phone yet and still they want to..

Dont worry, you might not be the first one to get the phone, but you will get it eventually if it is good enough. You see, now you have a chance to see if the appeal of Lumia 920 really lasts among people who have bought it and make your decision based on reviews of analytics AND experience of ordinary users. Fact seems to be that Lumia 920 really is the best phone in the market right now, best in innovation and hardware, but it has its bugs and few missing apps, later on those things will be available due software updates.

I have only seen L900 myself, but it felt REALLY good and 920 should be enchanted version of it. I got myself Iphone 5 and really havent looked other phones than this, because it is great for photography -and Video editing and some other stuff too, but now.. I just saw my friends L900 and Lumia 920 is really bringing Nokia from depths of failure back to delivering superior product for people like me.. Who want to shoot pics, shoot video, surf internet, use it as NAVIGATOR and FREE music player(!) Plus all the other awsome [censored] like durability.. IT GETS RUN OVER A CAR and WORKS! WTF!?

I am sold, my reasoning says.. keep the iphone 5 and.. no.. reason is gone, I want my Lumia 920, I want it bad.

Just wish it would be cheaper, but you cant get all.

i am a new user of the lumia 920. this phone has been over-exaggerated by microsoft. at first glance, it looks like an amazing phone and os; however, it is definitely a dudd after a few days.

problems:

1. users are not allowed to select various colors for different icons. instead, users are forced to select one. this hampers the beauty of differentiating icons and thus causes a very bland and boring interface.
2. users with multiple email accounts, like myself (various emails for work, personal, and internet purchases), cannot consolidate all accounts into one icon. instead, the os forces upon users to have multiple icons on the welcome interface or multiple app on the listing feature. microsoft has been great success with the 'outlook' program for decades. why not include an 'outlook'-type interface for mobile emailing? the new name of this outlook program should be 'mobile outlook' or 'outlook mobile' etc. another feature which would enhance this phone is to have 'live tile' for this mobile outlook.
3. limited corporate mobile apps at the windows store compared to apple and android. many microsoft store corporate apps - like walgreens - are useless. these apps are gimmicks which forwards the users to their website. this drives up bandwidth usage! microsoft should not approve such apps. we need apps for financial institutions like american express or citibank, brokerage firms, starbucks, dunkin donuts, walmart, costco, sams club, etc!
4. the sound interface is poorly programmed.all sounds are interconnected and could not be differentiated based on headphone, incoming calls, text message, music, etc.
5. email sync and basic features. it is odd one email address would allow a user to add their name or select push mail while others do not have that option at all. furthermore, it becomes obsolete as users, like myself, have 2 gmail or hotmail accounts. you could add your name to one but not to the other.
6. copy, cut, and paste features. there are none! this is the most important feature for users.
7. phone call interface is ridicously and poorly programmed. why would i want to see the call history as the main menu after selecting the phone icon? i want to see the actual numeric keypad to dial a number.
8. live tiles. this feature is definitely useless as it doesn't automatically update. users would have to enter the program before the live tile updates.
9. main lock screen. i would like to be able to have my name, address, or contact information on the lock screen.
10. background color. it's just boring! there's millions of colors out there. users are forced to either have a black or white background. just boring!
11. inability to view png image files
12. there's no facial recognition app. this would enhance security...especially if you want users to add their credit card profiles in microsoft wallet. 2step verification is best.
13. central notification features nonexistent.
14. updates to apps lacking. users must enter windows store to see if updates are available.
15. date. users should have the option of having the date shown on top of the screen.
16. skype? it's not comparable to google voice. google voice is free. skype...users must pay
17. sharepoint. this app is useless. users can't connect as it continuously says 'something went wrong. please check your internet connection or try again later.' internet is available via wifi or lte. so that's odd!
18. calculator. this is useless. it shouldn't be that difficult to program it into a full feature scientific and graphic calculator. this would boost microsoft sales significantly as many high school and college students or even professionals, like myself, rely on such calculators. the screen is obviously a perfect size. the hardware is obviously present to perform complex calculations and devise graphs.
19. video calls. many users have wifi or lte access. why not include a feature that's interconnected as a submenu of the call button next to call history. allow users to make video calls.
20. the calendar feature is just outdated. microsoft should reprogram it to allow users to change the background color like calendar templates offered for microsoft word/excel. users cannot set each agenda on the calenda as a 'blocked colored ' task. the current interface is just boring! users cannot set the calendar to weekly views. only daily or monthly allowed. another feature which should be available is the ability to share the agenda with other users, workers, or friends. simply put it, users need to be able to add a contact to an agenda and send the contact the agenda via email or txt. another feature which is lacking is the ability to offer voice or video-recorded agendas. this would be a huge highlight for microsoft and its users.
21. another feature lacking is a central live clock.

clearly, i have more complaints about this phone but i'm already exhausted at #21. i can think of nearly 50 more!!! these are very basic programming features which are lacking!!!!!!!!!

None of that affects my usage of phone though, that is more what you would be have preferred phone to have already :)

Plus, most of those features, are possible to add via software update.

I would like to hear more about the camera, photoediting apps, video, is it possible to edit video clips, like with iphone's imovie? I've heard that sound quality is amazing, is this true? How quick the internet browser is? Facebook app, does it work?

Most of all I would like to know, how well the camera performs in macro? Are those images sharp enough..?

ps.truthtobetold1111 You can send those flaws you mentioned directly to NOKIA via 920, there is an application for feedback..? which, I believe, is just for that, feedback from users. Test it yourself and send feedback to them?

Yes you managed to list a tonne of stuff basically to say window 8 is a new OS and lack many software features of matured phone OS. But that the OS not nokia 920 ??? And Many of these techie software things aren't what the normal phone user go for anyway.

I stopped reading after this. You can "link" multiple email accounts into one inbox.

Out of that list.... none of them affect me. I use Skype because it is free, and works. I don't care about multiple email accounts, or facial recognition... and basically just don't care about anything in your list. The only issue MIGHT be the copy/paste bit, but the more I think about it, the less I care. I used that maybe twice on my most recent Android phone.

5. email sync and basic features. it is odd one email address would allow a user to add their name or select push mail while others do not have that option at all. furthermore, it becomes obsolete as users, like myself, have 2 gmail or hotmail accounts. you could add your name to one but not to the other.
6. copy, cut, and paste features. there are none! this is the most important feature for users.
7. phone call interface is ridicously and poorly programmed. why would i want to see the call history as the main menu after selecting the phone icon? i want to see the actual numeric keypad to dial a number.
8. live tiles. this feature is definitely useless as it doesn't automatically update. users would have to enter the program before the live tile updates.
9. main lock screen. i would like to be able to have my name, address, or contact information on the lock screen.
10. background color. it's just boring! there's millions of colors out there. users are forced to either have a black or white background. just boring!
11. inability to view png image files
12. there's no facial recognition app. this would enhance security...especially if you want users to add their credit card profiles in microsoft wallet.

I thought Windows Phone finally got copy and paste. (I'd be surprised if it lacked that.) I actually use that rather often. (though it is a pain if I want to type quote marks and then paste in text - no, selecting on the opposite side of the screen does NOT mean I want to select that quote mark I just typed... why would I want to do that? That's the one thing I liked about Windows Mobile - there was a Control key on the virtual keyboard, so I could use keyboard combinations to get around that kind of stuff.)

i am a new user of the lumia 920. this phone has been over-exaggerated by microsoft. at first glance, it looks like an amazing phone and os; however, it is definitely a dudd after a few days. problems: 1. users are not allowed to select various colors for different icons. instead, users are forced to select one. this hampers the beauty of differentiating icons and thus causes a very bland and boring interface. 2. users with multiple email accounts, like myself (various emails for work, personal, and internet purchases), cannot consolidate all accounts into one icon. instead, the os forces upon users to have multiple icons on the welcome interface or multiple app on the listing feature. microsoft has been great success with the 'outlook' program for decades. why not include an 'outlook'-type interface for mobile emailing? the new name of this outlook program should be 'mobile outlook' or 'outlook mobile' etc. another feature which would enhance this phone is to have 'live tile' for this mobile outlook. 3. limited corporate mobile apps at the windows store compared to apple and android. many microsoft store corporate apps - like walgreens - are useless. these apps are gimmicks which forwards the users to their website. this drives up bandwidth usage! microsoft should not approve such apps. we need apps for financial institutions like american express or citibank, brokerage firms, starbucks, dunkin donuts, walmart, costco, sams club, etc! 4. the sound interface is poorly programmed.all sounds are interconnected and could not be differentiated based on headphone, incoming calls, text message, music, etc. 5. email sync and basic features. it is odd one email address would allow a user to add their name or select push mail while others do not have that option at all. furthermore, it becomes obsolete as users, like myself, have 2 gmail or hotmail accounts. you could add your name to one but not to the other. 6. copy, cut, and paste features. there are none! this is the most important feature for users. 7. phone call interface is ridicously and poorly programmed. why would i want to see the call history as the main menu after selecting the phone icon? You're simply trolling. Nearly everything you said is wrong. You CAN do linked email inboxes, when apps for Walgreens have to authenticate and look, they still waste your data plan and pinning that site to start isn't as bad as it sounds when it does the exact same thing, skype is free except for landlines and other cell phones and google voice is very limited based mainly on call forwarding. if so just use Metrotalk the best google voice client on the app store... Jeez

I thought it did too. Though I really don't care as it is another useless feature to me.

Judging by the other comments, it seems that the poster wasn't too bright to start with...

"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'" -- Isaac Asimov

Since most of what you say is technically incorrect; and personal preferences, It would be better to make write ups for standing up comedians...
