Hi, Piotr, and welcome to the forums.

I don't think you need a keylogger for this. It seems like overkill to me. That's for stealing passwords, and you don't really need to do that. If you feel that you need to know their passwords, insist they give them to you. And if they violate your trust, cut them off from the Internet.

You don't want to be sneaky in how you monitor and control their PC use. Better to lay down the rules, explain that the PC has software that will block certain sites and let you know what they're up to, and encourage them to make the right decisions.

For more details, see Protect Your Kids Online. The article may be a bit out-of-date. Maybe I'll use your question as an excuse to do an updated version.

I fully trusted my children with my computers until things started acting strange. I didn't want to use a keylogger, just see where they went on the web. I used RedHand, it allowed me to look back at history and activity. Now they have their own machines so I could care less but I think it's more like knowing where they went, why and stopping the activity like a parental control would.

Hi,

I understand you need a keylogger to monitor your children's mail or an IM app. Just remember it cuts both ways: gets your passwords/card numbers as well. And keyloggers are associated with cybercriminals, some of these apps send them what they get so you risk  a lot. It's best to set up your children's mailboxes personally as you know the passwords and can access them easily any time. Should you be unable to do that you know the passwords were changed and this means TROUBLE and it's time for a serious conversation. Maybe the following articles help you: Kid protection, Kid protection 2.

My daughter has proven on Many occasions to be Untrustworthy. We've (mom & dad) been called into the city Police station, because of our daughers OL activity.

As much as I abhore key-loggers, I think that under certain conditions, Strictly Controlled by the parents, a Key-Logger program can help control a childs illegal OL activity.

WE are the Parents!!!! It's our Job to raise our daughter & keep her from becoming another victim of Internet Abuse.

The internet is a very scary place & every Mother/Father MUST do Everything possible to protect their children OL!!!!
