Finally windows 8 gets some credit. It's a brilliant operating system that Is given a bad rep because people aren't used to it. You always hear people say how terrible windows 8 is but a lot of those people don't know how to use windows 8.

Totes. I just installed Win 8 Pro on my mum's new laptop (a Samsung Series 9, which should be on this list btw). It freaking rocks. I'm getting it.

I would encourage you to create your own Top 100 list and share it with PCWorld.

It seems like MIcro Express get a great computer package in this compilation every year. And why not, the listed product sounds like a winner in all aspects. However, that is where it stops. I went to their website last year to investigate purchasing the winning product listed and was told that was an "old" configuration at first and then was told the components listed were out of stock with a 4 month wait. I have no doubt this year's listing will bare the same fruit.

I stopped reading at "windows 8 is the most important". On the other hand, you guys are "pc"-world, which skews things a little. From the newsletter which included this link, 4-5 "news" were about windows 8. I forget, does microsoft owns you or not?

Indeed. I was shocked to see the Apple iPhone 5 on this list at all considering that the Lumia 920 wasn't on the list AT ALL!

Agreed. The iPhone 5 is fine being on here, it did have a 4" screen after all! But not listing the Lumina 920, or at least Windows Phone 8 in general, that was a major oversight. I am sure that all these things on here are great and all, but come on. Also, the SIII was the only Android phone on there, but there must have been another Android phone worthy of this list? Maybe the Note II? Good job with the number 1, but poor job overall!

I can answer this:

The list was compiled before we'd gotten a chance to review either the Note II or the Lumia 920 (or Windows Phone 8 for that matter). The iPhone 5 is a good phone, but we felt the S III was a better phone overall.

Please turn off "auto play" on Michael Brown's video segment! OMG! Everytime I click through to read a review and then go back to the list, that darn video starts blaring through my speakers again and I have to scroll all the way back to the top of the list to turn it off. Make it STOP!

I don't agree that ASUS is the TOP wireless router. It is only a basic wireless router. There are a lot of good brands such as Linksys SMART Wi-Fi Routers, Netgear, and WD!

How much ASUS pay to PC World!

I found ‘PC World 100 Best 2012’ an interesting article, but I’d like to make a suggestion for future write-ups. For many of the items listed, I had to ‘read down’ to determine what the product was. Suggest that PC World use heading identifiers. Examples; #4, Vizio CT14-A2 (laptop); #9 Asus RT-AC66U (router).

How can any right thinking person put Windows 8 at the number one spot? What rubbish! Makes one wonder about the relationship between Microsoft and PCWorld.
