I think the problem with windows 8 is that it has come to soon, it is intended for touch screens such tablets and mobiles, but most people do not have touch screens on their desktop, and using windows 8 with a mouse is clunky, and yes I have tried it.
Even if I did have have a touch screen, it would not be viable to work that way all day long, reaching across my desk to the monitor would make my arms ache like hell and probably give me more RSI than a mouse, it simply wouldn't be comfortable.
Windows 8 is probably great for tablets, but not for desktops. The way people work at their desk needs to change first, monitors would need to be at a more ergonomic position, probably embedded into the desk at a 45 degree angle. I.E. a surface desk.

Windows 8 is disliked by many users and I hated it and will never use it.
I found Windows 8 extremely poorly designed, and very irritating to use.
I hope that the new Windows 9 that Microsoft is rushing to replace the abysmal Windows 8 will be much better designed, otherwise it will be bankruptcy for stupid Microsoft.
