People don't know about these, and other things, in Windows 8 because Microsoft has hid everything. If you had a functioning Start Menu on the Desktop Interface, they could have placed these items under the Accessories menu, etc. and they'd be easy to see and use. But with the disfunctional Start Screen of Windows 8, now you have to 'search' for everything by typing in a term on your keyboard, but the only problem is nobody knows what all exists in Windows 8 to have any clue what to even search on in the first place since it's all hidden!

I have been using Windows 8, and the "dysfunctional" Start Screen does get some time to get used to, but in the end, you end up with a simpler menu that has the programs that you use.
(that's the Apple philosophy, which doesn't have a start menu either, and average person likes it - because they use a total of like 15 programs, and the power user eventually tweaks it to a point where they are happy with it, it seems)

By the way, there a lot of programs and tools (such as the steps recorder) that was also in Windows 7. But they were hidden. Windows 7 Start menu also need to hide some stuff, because otherwise it would be overwhelming.

For Hyper-V you forgot to mention that a 64 bit OS is required...

Windows 8 "God Mode"

create a new shortcut on your desktop, and name it the following:

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

That's it!

...Windows 8 is unrefined pathethic ,designed to challenge those who paid for it .Windows 8 is: hide - seek game. Ballmer should be resigned long time ago. Sinofsky... what a joke...Former vista is even better than windows 8; which is a joke of our time today. Bill Gate: please save the Microsoft from the empty-headed , pay check receivers. It is about time!

Awesome? These are either "been there all along" or "improvements on previous versions" utilities (Windows reliability history seems a nice improvement). Also, I have an nvidia card and the nvidia control panel (free download with driver) includes a similar calibration tool. What about something like TweakUI? Anything like that?

I can't get over how so many people go after grammar and spelling in the comments section. They aren't getting PAID to pontificate and such. Lighten up. Dysfunctional, however you spell it, is slang, anyway, and has only recently become part of the vernacular (to describe most if not all families, so it's redundant, at best).

And...does the God mode actually work? Because that would be... AWESOME!

Most computers are 64-bit now, so that isn't much of an issue unless you're getting a cheap computer. But yes.

By the way, all of these except Hyper-V are built into Windows 7.

Microsoft has you by the balls with these Windows 8 machines. Try to boot to a different operating system. You can not. I tried 8 for several hours and decided to put 7 on the machine. You can not. The bios changes will not let you. It is not your machine anymore, it is an agent of Microsoft.

Fyi, on an x86 machine, you can disable Secure Boot in the BIOS. (not on ARM though) I think it's a relatively stupid feature to begin with though.

I mean, who wants their boot loader secured against viruses anyway? Right?

And how many viruses are there out there that target the boot loader? As far as I can tell, it's mainly an anti-competitive feature to make it a bit harder for the end user to install another OS on the THEIR PC.

And besides, who wants a tablet UI on their desktop/laptop anyway?

First off, they do exist. And do you prefer to be proactive with your security or retroactive? I prefer the proactive approach. This allows me to ensure that there isn't a problem to begin with. You can make believe anything you want to after that, just be sure to wear your American made tin foil hat while doing it. Because you can't trust the Chinese made hats. They use inferior tin.

EDIT: And BTW - nice attempt at trolling... tablet UI...
