HP Envy X2 is missing from your list and should definitely supplant several of these options. I'm really not sure how you missed this.

We didn't include any devices that we haven't yet tested (yet alone haven't yet reviewed). The Envy X2 should arrive from HP this week, so stay tuned for coverage (though the holidays will certainly affect our ability to complete a review before 2013).

I find your comments interesting about the Lenovo Yoga and Twist as being premium products. A look at the Lenovo forums seems to indicate that the Twist is flimsy and the Yoga is not much better. Many even say the Dell Flip is way sturdier. These are comments from actual owners. For me just looking at the Twist or the Yoga does not instill sturdy in my view.

I ordered the Envy X2 right after Thanksgiving from HP and got it on the 14th. Great tablet/laptop and worth the price. Being able to run my existing Office apps was really important, and the extra SD slots don't hurt. Not much bigger than an old HP netbook, but still lighter and very sturdy.

The AC adapter has a wide connector, not found in any stores, nor online yet from HP until about mid-January. Just saying if you want (like me) an additional adapter for travel.

If you want more of a full laptop Fujitsu has always out preformed all other convertible/twist type machines. Unfortunately they don't get as much exposure because need more retailers.

Clamshell is not dead after all.

Of the 5 models, two Lenovo models are basically still clamshell design (especially Yoga); even the "pure tablet" Microsoft Surface is a clamshell with detachable cover.

The other two weird designs (Sony and Acer) will not stick around.

Long live clamshell!

By the way, there is nothing new in the design of Lenovo Twist. Portable DVD players have to doing this for years.

Just as people say, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Pretty soon tablets will follow netbooks to oblivion and clamshell will rule computers once again.

It all comes down to this question: how useful is a computer without a keyboard? It is useless.

Since I want something with 4g. I'm waiting for HP elitebook 900, until January 2013.

The HP EliteBook 900 maxes out memory at 2GB with a display of 1,280 x 800. Definitely not competitive with other tablets out there.

I would like to know that as well. I don't want to have to use the apps for Cityville or Facebook Orr Pinterest. . I want to be able to have the full version or full browser. Does it have a mouse option?
