Ray Kurzweil Joining Google

Kurzweil is getting pretty annoying. He made some primitive stuff back in the day - yippee! Now he thinks that he will be immortalized by digitizing himself...somehow. That is probably his motive behind joining Google, to further his insane dream of not dying.
Cars are NOT really driving themselves much - only with a driver sitting there, hands on the wheel ready to take over and under ideal circumstances. Sure, you can talk to your phone - as long as you are connected to the Internet and a cloud full of servers that will misinterpret your speech.
It has been repeatedly proven that the very WORST people to predict the future are those involved with technology. They view the world through their own dreams and wishes and cannot see reality. A few housewives would do a much better job of guessing how little things will be different 10 or 20 or 50 years from now than a thousand Kurzweil-minded goofballs.

Well the Add in GPS in my 2003 Buick doesn't actually drive the car, but when I am going to go some place that I have never been before, I just set the address in the GPS and follow directions. It is amazing how much easier it is to go some place when you can look at your GPS and it tells you the name of streets as you are approaching and just about guides you in. In 2003, Buick nor most other manufactures had them to install, but I had it installed in 2008 and have been thankful for the experience ever since. Personally I am not completely convinced about a gadget that actually drives a car since it is questionable if the gadget can conceive everything that can happen. Of course with Airplanes it is possible to take off and land automatically, but guess we all feel more comfortable having a pilot in the cockpit.

I agree that Kurzweil is getting annoying but not because he is wrong or because he doesn't want to die (who does?).
He is disturbing because he only sees the positive aspects of technology and not the negative ones (He also has a habit of over self-promotion).
I don't think that technology solves social problems and class disparity, I think it magnifies them. I am not sure I want to be part of a world where the 1% live in a world of amazing "Star Trek" level technology while the rest of us live in a "Mad Max" world of desperation and depravity.

You are obviously not very informed. Ray has made many predictions that have come true. Please youtube "urban challenge" and dig a bit deeper into the subject before you say something else silly. Just because you personally don't have a car that drives itself doesn't mean there are none. You also may wiki Ray and see what this brilliant man has done in his life. What have you done?

Even with Kurzweil, Google will not have access to KEEL Technology.
