Hello,

I am looking for a small and beautiful printer for my desk. I want a wireless printer that would go well with the furniture!
Short listed a couple of printers, Brother Printer and an Epson Printer. They all look great on screen so I will need your help. My usage is not more than 10 pages a day!

Please advice!

I suggest getting a laser printer - they cost more upfront, but they are far cheaper per page, and text quality is better. I've been fairly happy with Brother printers. (However, due to lack of driver support in my experience, I do NOT recommend Canon.)

Hate to say it, but I am in the exact opposite camp. I have been using Canon printers for about 10 years now. Both the multi-tank systems. First one lasted about 7 years, and worked like new until it died. I happen to like the new one even more. Granted I don't by the printers based on how they fit the decor....

Most laser printers these days have gone the way of ink-jet systems. IE: fairly cheap upfront cost, with very expensive toner.

Now, between Epson and Brother, I do have to say that Brother is well known for producing products of considerably higher quality. I would go that route long before Epson.

For what it's worth, the Canon I had still works perfectly to this day (it was donated to a local school and has been used as a copier for 3 years now). Still, that doesn't help me if I can't print from a newer computer. I don't recall it had Mac support either. The Epson Photo 870 also works fine with everything from W2K to 7 x64, without me being to automatically install a driver.

I've also seen ancient HP laser printers that work with Windows 7 x64 (LaserJet 1100 that only has parallel anyone?).

Such as my LaserJet 6MP. It only has two parallel ports and an AppleTalk port (feel free to go look that up). I have it connected to my router by way of a parallel port to USB adapter cable and it is now a "network printer", so to speak. Still going strong after more than a decade (I did replace one roller in the feed path myself).

10 pages per day is still 300/month, and for instance, a cheap HP ink cartridge claims 200 pages. A laser printer is still worth considering. (Plus, it can't dry out and become unusable like ink can - toner is already dry to begin with.)

You want to buy a printer on esthetic basis? Are you a girl?  Buy an HP Deskjet. They look nice enough and if you don't print that much it may be just what you need. HP printers are reliable, too.

Go with Epson stuff, reliable and worth buying. Offers exciting attributes at less expense.
