Enabling Ms Defender In Windows 8

I purchased a laptop with Windows 8 installed from HP. Norton Internet Security was installed at the factory which I understand means that portions of MS Defender were disabled.

I would like my anti-virus solution to be MS Defender. The question is what do I need to do to re-enable MS Defender after I uninstall the Norton software?
