I agreed that the price of Windows 8 tablets and laptop are too high. But the reason for the slow uptakes of Windows 8 it's the lack of inventory or touchabes devices. The appear of Windows 8 is the ability to touch the screen and move tiles, Apps around.

While Windows 8 can be use and works fine with the mouse and keyboard, the selling point is the touch screen and they are not here yet. Surface 8 Pro does not comes until the end of January, Lenovo hybrid tablet/laptop did not or has not come out yet. The Acer, Samsung touch screen tablets and laptop came out late or were always out of stock.

Windows 7 is a excellent OS, so why upgrade to a new computer, or laptop if there is no touch screen, which is a strong reason to buy a new Windows 8 laptop.

I have two desktop computers and 3 laptops, all running Windows 7. I like to experiment with newer operating systems and bought two Windows 8 licenses, which I installed as a "dual boot" option on one desktop and one laptop. Neither machine has "touch" capabilities, but I WAS considering purchasing a touchscreen for the desktop. The operating system here is WAS. I expected to be able to find a smaller But no, I found out, they do not sell touchscreen monitors at "reasonable" prices. Oh, I did find one or two at a bit above $300, but they only accepted VGA. To get a decent digital monitor, you evidently are expected to pay twice that. I can get a decent complete brand new computer for what they want for a touchscreen monitor! Bring down the price, and maybe, just maybe Windows 8 will sell. But at $600 for a desktop touchscreen monitor, folks like me just aren't interested.

Windows 8 is not selling as expected period. I downloaded it and run in on an older HP Touchsmart. and it does not give me any added benefit over Windows 7 aside from a faster boot up. The touch interface is a distracting attempt at merging the Tablet aspect of win 8. into PC's and laptops. I use the Stardock download and just boot into the desktop and skip the colorful mess that are the tiles. I don't use them nor care for them, to each his or her own on that one, everyone has an opinion and I respect yours, if you like it then it's a bonus for you.
I have used windows since 3.1 came out and Win 8 is the best reminder of if it's not broken don't fix it.
Windows 7 is still the best version by far. and Win 8 is an attempt to merge into a market that windows will struggle to compete in. Microsoft still does not understand the Tablet. after all these years you think they would of learned from their previous attempts.
Windows RT is worthless with out apps. and what can a Windows 8 pro tablet do better than a laptop or ultrabook with a touchscreen? they are both portable with good displays, battery life is about the same with some better exceptions on ultrabooks, and with a laptop you don't need to carry a keyboard with you. price? I would buy a laptop instead...
The price is a factor in poor sales but not the only one. Windows 8 is the reason.
One silver lining in this for Microsoft, by default Windows holds the biggest market share in PC's so if you need a new PC chances are it's going to have windows 8 on it.....

I am in the maket for a new laptop but looking for WIN 7+. Just add the benefits of WIN 8 minus the touch screen to WIN 7. Again just add the benefits of WIN 8 to WIN... or never mind this solution is too simple.

The truth that Microsoft and the PC companies need to face is that Windows 8 is a horrible OS and users do not want it.
Microsoft MUST release a new and fixed Windows 9 as soon as possible for people to buy new PCs.
I and million of other users will NEVER use the abysmal, poorly designed and irritating Windows 8.
It is not the hardware.... it is all Windows 8 fault for the slow sales.

They're not selling because they ARE Windows 8!
