Regardless, concerning the "Delivers A Jolt Of Speed" in the prominent title, well I go by standardized metrics, not wishy-washy subjective experience stuff:
- Same hardware / software platform (my Dell Latitude E6520 running Windows 8 x64).
- Latest browser version of any preferences.
- Universally accepted test suite such as the SunSpider by the W3C themselves, the people in charge of defining the HTMLx protocols, including HTML5.
So here are the normalized, real-life, rubber meets the road metrics I diligently measured. (Lower results are better == faster).
#1 Fastest browser bar none (at least regarding javascript, on topic):
Microsoft IE10 x86

#2 Faster browser in 'Modern' GUI, as default installed under Windows 8 RT (also supporting built-in Adobe Flash via Adobe Air, even on low-computational-power slow 32-bit ARM CPUs. All of them, on tablets and smartphones)
Microsoft IE10 RT

#3 medium speed Google Chrome the latest (since the versions change so fast due to bugs and vulnerabilities that it is now at version 23.x.x.x.x in less than 5 years only)
Google Chrome 23.0.1271.97 m

#4 slowest of them all, "Jolt Of Speed" in Firefox 18

As expected, Firefox is always the laggard. Unfortunately. What's wrong with Mozilla? Incompetence obviously.
Feel free to run your own tests onto your own systems, and please share the results and not mere baseless opinions or prejudices. Mileage may vary (obviously depending on your hardware and/or system software mal-configuration).

What IE has in speed, it lacks in usefulness. Firefox does have problems, especially with Youtube streaming, and especially after every new release. But it's FAR more useful than either Chrome or IE. The latter have way too much topspace, unintuitive menu options, really annoying. So I stick with Firefox, ever since IE8 came out. Only use IE when I must (i.e., the website won't operate on some other browser).
PS: I just found the best post on how to dual-boot Win8, so now will actually do this. Click here for the post. Just made a video in my 'brainouty' Youtube channel featuring that post.
Your use of Dell 6520 has me intrigued, yet I think I'll hold out for some version of the 6600 now, as I see it sports an ejectable internal hard drive. Which means, I can really protect my client data when on the move; and they can't steal even the OS! No other laptop has that feature, so far as I know. Dell sells it with Win7, so I won't put Win8 on that machine. Rather, of all the 3000 reviews I've read from users, the Dell D630 works well with Win8, so I'll just get one at Dell Outlet or Off-Lease or Auction, and put Win8 on it before January ends. Whew.

I actually like Firefox, when it works correctly, because it is open-source, and has so many cool plugins.
However, I was going to install this onto my Samsung Nexus smartphone, and Samsung Nexus 10 tablet, but upon reading the user's feedback, I shall refrain for the moment. Maybe FF 18.0.1 Hopefully?
Mozilla, please fix this worse-than-beta Firefox 18.0 before you unleash the Jolt Of Speed onto the unsuspecting public. Memory leaks are the worst!

Hello brainout.
In order of preference, I personally use (3) browsers:
- Microsoft IE
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
But let's not devolve into preferences and opinions concerning which is the best. For me, I can't use IE onto Linux/Unix which is a big no-no. Hence Chrome and Firefox. Plus I philosophically prefer open-source.
I'm glad you don't think Dell is crap, like so many other members here. For instance, you wouldn't believe the kind of troubles I have with Lenovo. Case point, right now on the Lenovo site, under support, for the ideapad u620, the 64-bit drivers for that system do not even install under Windows 7 x64. The latest BIOS published by Lenovo won't install either, since this BIOS pre-loaded with the unit is more recent than what's on the website. Talk about incompetence! But I digress. However, after having (3) bangs! under Device Manager, I finally gave up, and simply loaded Windows 8 Pro, the $40 version. Poof, all problems gone! No drivers needed. I see Microsoft's technical acumen at work here. They make it simple for everybody.
As to the Dell Latitude E6520, well I have to wait another year, before upgrading to the latest and greatest, since that's our upgrade cycle. We simply lease the system and return it to Dell at the term. And simply go for what's current then. I've never been disappointed by Dell, and our entire infrastructure, is Dell. All rack blade servers, switches, etc... NBD (Next Business Day) replacement on-site. Laptops included. That includes accidental damage such as dropping and cracking the screen, or spilling coffee onto the unit. Very reasonably priced IMHO.

Check this out, all the service manuals are downloadable and free:
Simply Google dell latitude e6520 service manual

And it works for everything Dell provides.
As an example of the level of technical details provided by Dell, did you know one cannot haphazardly load device drivers in any random way? Dell explains it here: In what order should drivers be installed?

Nice professional PDF explaining in detail how to re-image their hardware, with our corporate standards. That knowledge is applicable to other brands as well, yet I don't find that kind of info from other manufacturers?
Finally, it takes me less than 5 seconds to swap (or remove/eject for safety as you imply) my SSD/HDD on the Dell Latitude E6520 (okay maybe one minute max if I keep the 4 screws in, but I don't.)

I personally don't feel like installing tons of browsers on my computer, but at this site they did feel like it: http://www.tomshardw...s-8,3349-6.html
as you can see, which browser is fastest with javascript is quite dependent on what benchmark you use for testing. Note that in these tests, firefox does not yet have the ion-monkey jit.
