Plc Adaptors -- Different Brands

I read in a product review for a certain PLC adaptor on Amazon that you can't mix and match PLC adaptors in your home network; they all need to be the same brand. Not wanting to believe everything I read on the internet, I was wondering if someone could confirm, deny, or clarify this. I want to start using PLC adaptors but want to make sure I do it right.
