You forgot to add UBCD - Ultimate Boot CD to your list.

I keep two USB drives. I have Portable apps on one, if I need windows or don't want to reboot a guest computer. The other is Linux Saluki. It is light, fast and you can save any changes you make. Both are very useful when traveling. Also Saluki is great on hotspots, or questionable sites, as it loads in memory, so you do not have to worry about malware writing to your hard drive.

I use RoboForm2Go for my passwords. I think it works better than the other password managers I've tried. I'll have to try Autoruns portable. It sounds like something I could use. Thanks.

How about UBUNTU Linux on a 16GB USB.
Try Booting from it by setting device priority on USB BOOT.
After running the OS. Update drivers, flash, wifi driver, etc via LAN; viola! you have a mobile fully functional OS. I have tried both with Fedora and Ubuntu with good results.

Saluki could be interesting, this is the first time I am learning about it.

UBCD is a Linux based solution. The vast array of tools included with UBCD must have an OS to be used.
I recovered all the user data from a PC which wouldn't boot due to a failed HD using UBCD. It has proven to be a lifesaver from time to time.

I am very interested but have 2 questions:
1. how big a thumb drive isneeded to hold the apps you mention?
2. How much space will the SystemRescueCD take?

Thanks,

Chuck

I tried to create an account with portableapps, but my email or ISP was listed as a spammer. This would not let me create an account. I am not a spammer. There does not seem to be a way to contact portableapps to let them know this.

Anyone have this problem?

Hiren's boot CD!
Just install latest version on your USB drive.
It is all-inclusive and more.

I'm sure a 2GB USB drive will hold them all...

You forgot one of my favorites that I think is better than Spybot and that is Combofix.
