I had the same problem but with the A key. I bought a new keyboard and still had the same problem. I called Apple and they walked me through it and it turned out to be a corrupt preference. Once it was found and trashed all is well, and the new keyboard went back.

Ok, in Canada they have banned the air spray bombs due to misuse by drug addicts. What do we use now?

I have the same problem but with the >shift-3< key for the "hashtec" symbol. Can you provide me the name of the corrupt preference file to be ditched?

I don't know witch preference was the culprit. While on the phone Apple Service they would have me take 10 or 12 preference out, put them in a folder, put the folder in the trash (do not empty the trash) and restart the computer. If that didn't do the job then remove the preference from the trash and put them back from where they came and start over with 10 or 12 different preferences. I did this 4 times before my keyboard worked normally. Then it was empty the trash with the preference folder in it. There were some preferences that Apple did not want removed, I suspect they were system or operating preferences. Hope this helps blk123

What if I want to MAKE a key go dead?

I use my CAPS LOCK about once a month but I'd be pretty happy to never use it. Yet it's inconveniently located between two keys I use minute-by-minute: the Shift and Tab keys.

Is there some way to disable this key so my finger doesn't accidently activate all caps?..causing untold misery when I'm typing in a password, for e?xample.

@jveeds

You Can Configure Your Settings To Give You A Sound Whenever Any Of Your Lock Keys Is Depressed.

There Is One Sound That Identifies The Turning On, And Another Sound To Identify The Turning Off.

No More Wrong Passwords.

Cheers.
