I have two XPS Dell computers wth dead motherboards in the corner of my office. Both died after 3 years of use. Dell has already taken too many risk with me and it will be awhile before I take any more with them.

I've bought and loved Dell computers for 20 years. If they are bought by Microsoft I'm out.

Another inroad to the hardware process for the software giant. Ever since Dell entered the industry with the first 80386 machine, they have exhibited some short sited engineering and strange concepts for peripherals. Maybe now they will build a machine that will adhere to software intentions. I can also see their entry into the tablets as that's now the hottest segment.

@mjd420nova,

I don't think the partnership with MS will help Dell eliminate the short sited & strange concepts for peripherals, in fact it will probably make Dell PCs more locked especially with MS pushing Secure Boot. You can pretty much say goodby to fixing MS-Dell PCs yourself and installing Linux on such PCs.

But yes, MS & Dell will probably create a tablet, but it will be locked for sure.

It seems that some have not read carefully enough to understand that it is not claimed that Microsoft is seeking to buy or otherwise gain control of Dell.

While each is entitled to his own opinion, no one is entitled to his own facts.

Its good that Dell and Microsoft are getting together...Dell is my Favorite Computer Company as well Microsoft is also my Favorite software Company... Microsoft has the best Software Engineers in the World...Whereas Dell is a very trusted brand and the biggest supplier of computers in the World...Dell products are so good and long lasting...A computer Hardware cannot work without a software (Drivers).Need something to control it..Dell and Microsoft rulezzz...

This seems like a smart move for both companies. Dell can stretch their legs a bit more without worrying about the stock-holders that care only about themselves. And Microsoft gets to establish a partnership with them that has a certain amount of meaning behind it...

Have always purchased and used Dell Computers, Never have had a problem. Lots of headaches with Microsoft through the years. If Dell is destined to be ruled by Microsoft I will seriously consider a different PC vendor.

well, Jeffrey Clinard ... did many or any of those Dells ship to you with other than MS OSs? Dell has been MS's ***** for a long time with only brief periods of trying to please customers who want no or nonMS OS shipped on a machine.
