Am I one of the only guys who upgrades stuff only if it's pretty much obsolete?

I am SO tempted to say "Yes".

When you have more discretionary income to devote to a hobby you'll understand. You're just not there yet.

Probably true. That said, I can afford to spend more on this, but just can't justify it in some cases.

Well, to be honest I often feel the same way. That's why I'm still running the Phenom.

I'll admit though - I had a Pentium 4 before building the i5 machine, and probably should've upgraded from that sooner than I did... :)

I built, then continued to tinker with this thing. I am happy with where I am at now and see no need to do another build at the moment. The Gateway Desktop with its 1st gen i7 ( 960 ) & EVGA 560Ti card is doing well. If you are still running something on a 775 socket then I would say it is time to consider and upgrade / build.

Hey coastie,
Even though it's built on a 775 board the media center is only a couple of years old and performing very well in its specialized function. However, I did start to look at an upgrade when I saw that AMD proc on a mini itx board, I just didn't know at the time how poorly it compared to what I was already running. So, I'm sitting tight right now, saving my allowance for the next project (whatever that may be :D).
