And for what reason were none of them ordered to pay restitution and be prohibited from using a computer for at least a few years?

"profoundly isolated." would be a term associated with one of several things I'd have done with them. The way it's used here in this article reminds me of one of the reason kids join gangs. They just want to be part of something regardless of consequences. Are the consequences here enough to stop them from future attacks?

Thats pretty bad for a 16 year old. Agreed with a previous comment of prohibitted to use a computer. Should be a lifetime ban

So wait...the other 2 people they arrested. The girl got 6 months and the guy got 18 months? She's older so she knew better even more so. She committed the same crime and she gets less prison time because she is a girl? Wow how unjust was that.

If I was that guy and I heard she got less, as soon as I got out I would hack the state computers and erase everything possible and steal whatever I can and post it everywhere.

If 2 people commit the same crime and in this case e 18, they should get the same exact sentence. It is unjust to give someone a lesser sentence because of their sex.

If a man commits murder and a women commits the same murder, he will get life and she will get 10 years. That is just wrong.

[quote] Question...the PC is in his house. How do you enforce such a ban? Oh wait, PC's aren't the only devices that can use the internet. Again, the feds cant really tell you what you can or cant do in a house u live in. Its private property. They can say whatever they want, but what they going to do; watch you all day?

where does a 16 yo get money to pay such? How do you enforce a ban on him using a pc. you cant watch him 24/7...right? I mean how you going ot know when he uses a PC? Libraries, friends...etc. He can always use a PC somewhere. How do you enforce such? Oh that right...you can'ts it would be an unreasonable request.

If three people rob a bank and get away with several million dollars, what do you expect their punishment would be. A 16 year old knows wrong from right, and I'm sure the others did also. I would agree that everyone involved should be sentence the same, but the sentence should be the same as if they robbed walked into an establishment with dangerous weapons and committed the robbery.
