I have a cable internet connection to my desktop. I just bought a laptop. I want to know how to connect my cable modem to both computers- not to be used at the same time. I just want to be able to use computer "A" or computer "B" without having to unplug one and have the cable company re-boot the modem. Suggestions? Ideas?

You need a router. Connect the modem to the router, and then plug your computers into the router. (or use wifi, at least for the laptop - if you do that, use WPA2 security to prevent others from getting into the network)
