Someone should probably just copy and past all of the posts from the article on last Saturdays Surface Pro sell-out flap and save everyone from having to typing the same old tired stuff all over again.

Maybe some fanboi will repeat the "staged shortage" theory.
If true, Apple should sue Microsoft for patent infringement ......
To disagree without being disagreeable is the art of debate. Simply because one has a strong opinion, it does not necessarily make an alternative opinion less valid.

Just buy one! You will love it. As for the conspiracy theorists, most are using an Ipad or an Atari -

This is just more MS BS. The 128GB units cannot be out of stock because that implies they WERE IN STOCK in the FIRST place. They never had the stock which means the units do not exist and are unlikely to arrive any time soon. Even the Microsoft store has no clue when they will be available. They cannot claim to have high demand since they haven't sold any 128 GB units in the first place.

This is just more bungling out of Redmond on top of their already dismal performance last year.

It seems fairly obvious that Microsoft is having a supply chain problem. We do not know whether the assembly plant in China is manufacturing the products in amounts lower than expectations or whether certain components are coming to the assembly plant slower than expected.

Microsoft likely had two choices: a. further delay shipment and release to the public until they had sufficient quantities of the Surface Pro to meet initial demand, or b. ship in lower-than-optimal quantities. Because the initial release was already delayed and roundly criticized, Microsoft decided on option b.

This strategy had the additional benefit of hyping demand and keeping the name of the product in the news.

You can now backorder a Surface pro on Microsoftstore.com. They say they will ship by March 1, 2013, with an estimated shipping date of March 1, 2013.

The statement about shipping more to the Microsoft Store online appears to be a complete fabrication. Even saying they made it available by Saturday is stretching the truth quite a bit.

Maybe their performance wouldn't be so abysmal if they shipped the correct amount in the first place, and made the product available. Maybe the Surface RT sales would be rather decent in the event that they stocked the shelves from day one so everyone who was interested in one could get one, and then show it off to their friends and so forth.
