What a silly article. Of course they have a plan B. If I were them, I wouldn't announce what it was either. Otherwise, all we would hear about from those who aren't Win8 fans would be how plan B is just around the corner or how much better life would be if MS had just gone with plan B in the first place. Regardless of which side of that fence you're on, you have to admit that MS would do themselves no favors by disclosing that information publicly.

Microsoft's innate ability to forget that many use the PC as a tool will lead to their demise. I don't need to relearn how to use Windows or put up with a complete change in Office menus because some 25 year old Geek thinks they have a better idea. W8 has helped me to make a decision. I am converting a laptop to Ubuntu and Open Office. I will no longer need Microsoft.

Microsoft hater's innate ability to forget that many use the PC as a tool will lead to their demise. Nobody needs to relearn how to use Windows nor struggle with a simple evolutionary change in Office menus because some 25 year old would-be-Geek thinks they have a better idea. W8 has helped millions to make a a no-brainer decision. They are rejecting Ubuntu and Open Office. They will no longer need any of these kinds of sub-par and non-professional software offerings.
