I just assembled my first new build. When I turn it on, the power supply unit comes on with fans and LED's but the CPU fan does not come on and the power unit shuts off intermittently. I get no post screen on the monitor. I've double checked all connections though I'm not 100 pct sure theyre right. Any thoughts?

One of the first things I do on a build is to assemble the bare (MOBO, PS, memory) unit, adding a video card only if not integrated. If things are a go from there, assembly inside the case, again, bare minimum, to insure you don't have a shorting problem with standoffs on the case. The PS starting but the CPU fan not, tells me the 12 volt supply is bad or sees a fault and is not starting. What happens to the fan in the PS?? if it starts to spin and then stops, it is detecting a fault and shutting itself off to prevent damage. Once you get a bare unit running, adding more memory, connecting drives and plugging any offboard connectors (USB, LEDs, power switches and displays). Be prepared to back up a couple steps in order to identify a peripheral that may be faulting the PS. Insure that all power connectors to drives are keyed properly and double check the ribbon(data) cables to and from the drive and the MOBO to check for pin #1 orientation..
